You’ll manage the day to day running of the business, and play a key role in planning its future.

Experience and confidence in running an office is essential, and no media experience is required. Key characteristics are good work ethic, level head, good at finishing things, organised, good at managing others, responsible with money, straight-talking, and being a good communicator.

More about The Red Group

The Red Group is a small, profitable and fast growing company. We were founded ten years ago by Steve Parks, a former BBC radio journalist, to make business communications more creative and effective.

There are three businesses within the group, and all staff work across all three, providing variety within their work.

  • Red Studios provides consultancy and production services to corporate clients, helping them communicate with senior business audiences more effectively – using audio, the web, events and other media. Clients include: BT Group, Microsoft, RBS, HBOS, Constructing Excellence, Business Schools, and other large corporates.
  • Red Audio publishes business audio programmes worldwide. We work with people such as Tom Peters, Stephen Covey, and companies like Pearson, to produce the world’s best business programming.
  • PodExec.com is a platform providing business training and development audio downloads to businesspeople – a kind of iTunes for business. Training managers can use it to provide training to managers, sales people, graduate trainees etc, all via MP3 compatible devices.

We are based on a business park in Sutton on the Forest, a small village in rural North Yorkshire - but are investigating a move to a creative business park near Easingwold. We have our own fully equipped radio studios and open plan offices with a relaxed and creative working environment.

More about this Role

You will be the right-hand man/woman to the company’s founder and chief executive, highly involved in developing the plans for the business and putting them into action. While the founder’s role is to manage client relationships, you will be back at base managing the company’s finances, team and resources. You will have line management responsibility for the team here, recruiting new members, conducting appraisals, running team meetings, and dealing with HR issues. You’ll manage the company finances, producing cash flow forecasts, raising invoices, liaising with the bank and our accountants, providing an overview of finances to the founder and making recommendations. You’ll bring a more professional working style to the company, implementing systems to enable us to scale more easily and achieve a higher quality of work.

You’ll work very closely with the founder to develop ideas for the next stage of growth, and develop a plan to make it happen. This is a role with a lot of responsibility and freedom for the right candidate, allowing them to be part of running a successful entrepreneurial company, making their mark on the organisation.
